Anne Milo is a graduate of the journalism school at Cal State Long Beach, but more importantly for this post, she’s a longtime Weezer fan who offered to combine both interests and send us a dispatch and photos from Weezer’s appearance in Irvine on Friday.

With new album Raditude just out, Weezer made a quick stop back in Orange County to promote the disc, signing autographs on just about anything fans handed them for a few hours in Irvine on Friday.

More than 400 fans attended the signing at Tilly’s at the Irvine Spectrum. If they had purchased Raditude between 10 a.m. Tuesday and 4 p.m. Friday at any Tilly’s store, they received a wristband that got them into the autograph session.

Excited fans shook hands, took photos and shared their fondest music memories with lead singer Rivers Cuomo, drummer and backing vocalist Patrick Wilson, rhythm guitarist Brian Bell and bassist Scott Shriner.  The band didn’t sign autographs until 6 p.m., but according to Tilly’s staff, fans lined up as early as 2 p.m.

“It’s nice to be back in Orange County,” Wilson said after a fan thanked him for coming to the Irvine Spectrum.  Earlier this fall, Weezer shared the spotlight with Blink-182 in September at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater.

Weezer lovers brought everything from musical instruments, T-shirts, stickers, ticket stubs, vinyl records and old albums to be signed by members of the band.

“Like many of the fans here, Weezer is a band I grew up with,” said Seid Hourani, 26, of La Mirada.  “It was definitely worth the wait to have them sign their album Pinkerton, a record I purchased more than 13 years ago.”

Milo smiles after getting all four Weezer guys to sign the CD booklet for Pinkerton, her all-time album.

My son and I, which is 11, waited for three hours and altough i was glad my son got to have the experience, they didn’t say a darn thing to him. It would of meant so much more if they would of acknowledged him. They are gods to him and I guess he’s just another fan to them.
