Legendary punk rockers Bad Religion will play at Etnies’ annual GvR (Goofy vs. Regular) skateboarding contest at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4 at the Etnies Skatepark in Lake Forest.
The GvR is a serious skate competition that pits two different styles of skating against each other (goofy skating is with the right foot forward, regular with the left foot forward). The riders in each category duke it out via a series of tricks and rides that set out to prove which skaters are kings.
The event will feature world-class pro skaters as well as locals. Qualifying begins Oct. 2 with the final round of qualifying wrapping up Oct. 4. During Sunday’s finals, skaters from both teams will compete in various sessions, including a five-minute skate jam and obstacle run, until a winner is declared.
Admission to all days of the event is free, as is the concert — BUT show-goers first need to pick up free tickets at participating Etnies stores. One ticket will be issued per person. Can’t go? Check out the live webcast from the event starting Friday at gvr.etniesskate.com.
The Etnies Skatepark is located at 20028 Lake Forest Drive. For more info, call 949-916-5870.
