I still haven’t been, but Desert Jeff tells me that the LA Weekly Detour Music Festival has been quite a little winner so far. And the lineup for the third go-round, slated for Oct. 4 on several stages amid a four-city-square block village erected in downtown Los Angeles, just might be enough to get me out there.

The Mars Volta and Gogol Bordello headline a bill that also includes Huntington Beach singer-songwriter Matt Costa, Shiny Toy Guns, the Presets, Cut Copy, Black Lips, Hercules and Love Affair, Grand Ole Party, the very fun Datarock, electro outfit Bitter:Sweet, the Submarines, Adam Freeland and more. Tickets, $40.50, go on sale Friday, Aug. 1, at noon at all Ticketmaster outlets. Fittingly, some proceeds from this urban Brigadoon will benefit the nature folks at Tree People.
