Cold War Kids, who play the Samueli Theatre on March 27

Earlier this month we learned that, as part of its new “Off Center Series,” the Orange County Performing Artscenter is about to launch a run of six shows in six months at the complex’s recently opened Samueli Theatre. That first gig, featuring Sweden’s Peter Bjorn and John and L.A. outfit Sea Wolf, is set for Jan. 24 and goes on sale today - as does the second installment in this series, which will bring the Walkmen and and Delta Spirit to the intimate venue on Feb. 28.

Meanwhile, Cold War Kids, that sharp Fullerton-born band (pictured) that has had a breakout 2007, will experience something like a homecoming as the third headliner in this stretch of concerts, slated for the fourth Thursday of the month from January to June - which places this CWK gig on March 27.

No word yet as to when that one will go on sale. Prices for PB&J, however, are $30 for standing-room-only general admission and $60 for VIP club-style seating in the mezzanine, while tickets for the Walkmen are $20 for the lower level and $40 for upstairs. Click each band’s name to purchase tickets through the Artscenter’s site (they’re not available through Ticketmaster).
