Tickets for Garth Brooks at Staples Center on sale Saturday … Levon Helm roars once more … Catching up with Pepper … Holiday Gift Guide: Box sets and music DVDs
Our prep sports guru and classic-rock maven Steve Fryer got an email today from Live Nation - a survey aimed at shaping up the first AC/DC tour in many moons. (Sample questions: How much would you pay for tickets? What talk shows do you watch?) That would seem to confirm what has been rumored for some time - that Brian Johnson and Angus Young (seen above at the Forum in 2001, their last performance here) and the rest of the Aussie gang will return to stages in 2008 after issuing an album they’ve been working on since last year. My guess is we won’t hear specifics, though, for several more weeks.
While we’re on the subject of old rock bands, Twisted Sister will headline an Operation HomeFront charity concert Dec. 14 at UCI’s Bren Events Center, benefitting soldiers from Southern California and the families left behind while they’re serving. Also on the bill: Metal Skool and the all-female tribute band the Iron Maidens. Tickets, $39-$99, are on sale via Ticketmaster or by calling the Bren’s box office, at 949-824-5000. Click here for more about the cause.
Finally, England’s Editors have announced a winter trek with Hot Hot Heat and Louis XIV in tow. The bill is due to make three SoCal stops - Feb. 9 at the Wiltern in L.A., Feb. 10 at the House of Blues in Anaheim and Feb. 13 at the House of Blues in San Diego. All tickets are expected to go on sale next week.
